Who would've known in 2004 when Doug Sr found a little sign on the side of one of our local Maryland roads saying "Sandy Hook Speedway- Racing today" where we would all be sitting now. Doug Jr started out in the kid kart division that year and Trent followed the year after.The Barnes family had always loved NASCAR and racing.The boys would ride around in their battery operated cars and run "races" and do their interviews in victory lane in the back yard of their Whiteford, Maryland home. They put many miles on their vehicles hauling their trailer with all the go-kart equipment for many years. Both boys won local, divisional and national races and championships thru the years karting. Doug moved into Legend cars and would run from 2010-2013 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Trent started in the Bandolero division then also onto Legend cars at Charlotte. In 2013, Doug would move into Super Trucks running at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC. He won Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Driver & 2nd in his class that year, he also started Late Model Stocks that year. 2014 - Doug split his time between Late Model Stocks at Hickory and running the Pro Cup Series (formerly Hooter Pro Cup Series) Trent moved into the Limited Late Models at Hickory. Trent won Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Driver and 2nd overall in his class. 2015 - Doug & Trent both ran in the Cars Tour Series in the Late Model Stock Division.They split their time running at Tri-County Speedway in NC and also Hickory Speedway.  2016- Both boys ran in the Late Model Division at the new Dominion Raceway in Virginia. Doug ended up in 2nd in track points for the new Dominion track and 14th overall nationally. Trent claimed Track Rookie of the Year and also Virginia Rookie of the year and coming in 4th in track points for the season. 

2017 - 2020 - A new chapter began as Doug ran the full season at Dominion Raceway solo, Trent had decided to get out of his car for a few seasons and pursued his old passion on the baseball field.


2017 &  2019 ended up being very good years for Doug & he won the track championship both years at Dominion. 
 
 2021 - New year and a fresh start...both Doug & Trent both will be getting behind the wheel for a packed season at Dominion Raceway and other various tracks.  


2022- Doug & Trent are both back full speed ahead at Dominion Raceway & other various tracks. 

Barnes Racing is a racing team of two brothers who are currently running late model stocks at Dominion Raceway in

Virginia and other tracks. Doug is 24 and Trent is 22, they both live in forest hill, Maryland.
